There are crises that cause and oblige. The choice of companies, with regard to future technologies, which currently are guided only by money and greed, can be sometimes heavily influenced by the emergency. But since the end of the twentieth century and at the very beginning of this twenty-first-ahead, it is urgent and real, especially, everybody starts to be recognized.

Mad cow disease, scrapie, FMD, penetration of genetically modified plants without any guarantees, massive deforestation and wild environment poisoned by chemical fertilizers, climate disruption, global warming of the planet, nuclear industry pervasive, becoming starajocih increasingly at risk, questionable food chain (if not more!), polluted seas. The list of misdeeds, the man and Industry, on our planet is long and affolante. We are actors took their own trap into the fabric of a scenario of a disaster.

I remember, there are about twenty years, when our collaborator Andrew Malby, asked in a TV broadcast of the Spanish, had dared to say that farmers were the major polluters of our environment. This statement, taken today by anyone, had that evening, nearly causing a riot at the local media in Madrid! I also remember the dialogues of the deaf between environmentalists (who at the time did not spend most of their time caring for electoral strategy) and the public, when the first attempt to attract the attention of seconds on the dangers of methods of crops and livestock that were putting in place these emerging agribusiness groups, more concerned that mass production of quality of life.

The only people who think that organic farming can feed the world are hippies in the imagination delirious, mothers hysterical and organic farmers arrogant.
Actually, no. A good number of leaders of the agricultural industry, scientists specializing in the environment and agriculture and international agricultural experts believe that large-scale transition to organic farming would not only increase the global food supply but might even be the only way to eradicate hunger.

This may seem surprising. After all, organic farmers reject pesticides, synthetic fertilizers and other tools become synonymous with agriculture high-yield. Instead, they depend on livestock for manure and should grow beans, clover or other vegetables nitrogen fixers and manufacture of compost or other forms of fertilizer can be produced in chemical plants but need to be cultivated - and therefore consuming land, water and other resources.Farmer
